Classic Mac & Cheese

About the Recipe


  • 1 lb pasta (elbow macaroni)

  • 1/2 cup butter

  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 6 cups milk

  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or blend of your favorite cheeses)


  1. Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat

  2. Stir in flour and salt. Cook 1 minute stirring constantly

  3. Add milk, stir to blend, and bring to a low steady simmer.

  4. Add uncooked pasta, cover and simmer gently for 8 minutes (stirring occasionally). the mixture will thicken while cooking.

  5. Remove from heat. Add in the cheese, and stir gently until all of the cheese is melted.

  6. Let sit for 5 minutes, then serve!
